The vision of producers / DJs Paul Maddox and Richard Wakley, Spektre was founded on a shared love for minimal techno and a willingness to experiment unmercifully with new sounds. Drawing inspiration as much from the old as the new their trademark sinister sound has wow-d fellow DJ and crowds alike.

Spektre display once again their art for creating powerful, twisted techno music for dark room. Subversive and off-kilter, Black Ice combines heavy oppressive bass with firing beats to set up a high-octane backdrop to tee up a crowd-pleasing break of sparse, stretched sirens. Balancing out the sound of this EP, Tesseract provides the ying to the yang of Black Ice. Up and coming UK techno act Echo Vacio have been turning heads and pricking up ears of late thanks to their rolling big-room techno sound. With Dubfire and Timo Maas amongst their growing number of followers, it was a simple decision for Spektre to snap up this single for their new Respekt label.

1. Full on and twisted with fierce jack-hammer beats and mind bending melodies, Heckle & Jyde is true to the evil menace of the fictional character from which it puns its name and contains the hallmarks of the big club sound which has landed Respekt on the playlists of DJ’s across the techno scene.

2. Paranoia pushes the wigged out techno template to the extreme. Building through waves of rising sirens and galloping percussion this is a track that packs a serious punch with its funky but tough groove the real power of this track comes via the epic dancefloor-destroying breakdown.
